ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS ABOUT RESEARCH NOTEBOOKS (DUE APRIL 13)
As you work on your Research Notebooks, realize that the number of quotes in each section may vary widely. That is perfectly okay. If you need MORE than the required minimum for a particular source, go ahead and include them. That way you have all your quotes in one spot. Also remember that many of your quotes may turn into a summary or paraphrase that would still be cited, but parenthetically. I will provide some examples of this next week, as a reminder.
You MUST include your attempts to contact and complete your interview in your Research Notebook. If you don't have an interview person yet, EMAIL ME IMMEDIATELY so we can get that part underway. You will be conducting these interviews via email or phone only. That was often true, even before this online model. I POSTED a solid example, with some comments, of an "initial contact" email (the closing statements are not there, but it gives you the basics) on the LEFT side of the blog. If you need additional help, email me your "rough draft" contact email text and ask for feedback before you send it out.
CITATIONS. Citations are the Works Cited entries in MLA format. You were asked to purchase a copy of the Little Seagull Handbook. It has examples for pretty much all the situations you will encounter. Didn't buy a copy? Ask a friend who did to take pics of the relevant pages and share them with you. There are additional online resources posted on the RIGHT side of the blog. Even if we were in class, I would be asking you to use your resources to show me what the formatting looks like, rather than just telling you how to do it. Ask questions, yes, but also use all your resources to complete the work.
