Read the three articles provided today. Pick one that seems to use a variety of rhetorical appeals (logos, pathos, ethos).

1. Skim or re-read the article to refresh your memory.

2. For each paragraph, find the main point and decide what type or types of rhetorical appeals are being used (rhetorical appeals reminders posted on the left, for your convenience).

3. For journal #18, list at least three specific examples from the essay in this manner:

EXAMPLE ANSWER: In paragraph 8 of “Why Literature Matters,” the author is using an appeal to logos when she quotes statistics that focus on the impact lower reading levels have on the workplace.
